UNENTERED DOGS ON SHOW GROUNDS

In an effort to protect the saftey of all exhibitors, spectators and their dogs, any dog that is not entered in any of the weekends events,  will not be allowed on the show grounds.  Anyone with a  dog that is on the show grounds and is not entered in any of the weekend events will be promptly asked to remove the unentered dog from the show grounds, including the parking lot.  For the saftey of unentered dogs, it will be required the dog be secured in a temperature controlled environment such as a hotel room or RV.    It is possible to seek an exemption to this rule.  Exemptions will be given on a limited case by case basis at the discretion of the show committee.  If you are seeking an exemption to have your unentered dog at the show please contact Kristin Unger octoberbordeaux@yahoo.com  prior to the show.

PERMANENT IDENTIFICATION  Effective Date: October 31, 2004
All Dogues de
Bordeaux entered in the National Show Conformation Event must have one of two types of permanent identification. The two acceptable types are 1) Microchip (Avid, HomeAgain or other) or 2) Legible tattoo. A microchip clinic will be held on the Saturday of the National Weekend where dogs that do not have permanent identification can be chipped. AVID microchips will be used and will be very affordable (rates to be listed on show premium). If an owner cannot show proof of permanent identification by show time, the dog is not eligible to compete and no refund will be issued. This policy change will allow the breed club and community to move to the next level as it ties into long term goals within the AKC. It also will benefit planned changes involving club programs and is expected to benefit the breed as a whole by influencing change concerning the importance of utilizing permanent identification within breeding programs.

(This does not include Spay/Neuter, CGC, TDI, ATTS or Fun events) This policy change will allow the breed club and community to move to the next level as it ties into long term goals within the AKC. It also will benefit planned changes involving club programs and is expected to benefit the breed as a whole by influencing change concerning the importance of utilizing the proper registration bodies in a breeding program. This policy also voids previous policy "PROOF OF REGISTRATION OF ANY REGISTRY, Effective date: November 2000.

BAIT

Any exhibitor throwing bait in the ring at any time will be asked to stop by the ring steward one time only.  Any exhibitor failing to comply with this policy after being warned once will be dismissed from the ring without refund and forfeiting all wins.  The use of distraction objects as bait will be prohibited in all classes with the exception of puppies and youth. Balls, rags, etc. being used as tug and play items, sqeekers, toys, feathers, laser pointers or any item  that will distract a dog is prohibited. These items not only distract the dog it is being used on, but other dogs in the ring. Any exhibitor entering the ring with these objects will be asked by the ring steward to surrender them at the ring entrance. Any exhibitor found to be using them in the ring will be asked to stop by the ring steward one time only and the item surrendered the ring steward.  Any exhibitor failing to comply with this policy will be dismissed from the ring without refund and forfeiting all wins.

The BOD considers the banning of bait throwing and use of distraction objects in the ring as being respectful of each other at the national show. Your understanding and cooperation is appreciated.

DOUBLE HANDLING

Exhibitors, please be advised that “double handling” is an illegal offense in both AKC and UKC events as well as DDBS events. “Double handling is considered poor sportsmanship. An example of this is someone trying to get the dog’s attention outside the ring while it is being shown. This may be a noise, or just the person getting the dog’s attention to have it more alert, thus giving an unfair advantage.” (UKC Official Rule Book). Any person found to be participating in “double handling”, if they are in the ring or outside of the ring providing any type of distraction to a dog or dogs at the national show in any capacity will be asked to stop immediately by the ring steward.  Anyone not complying with this request will be asked to leave the show grounds by the ring steward immediately without any refund and forfeiting of their wins. Any participant or spectator observing double handling is to contact a show committee person or BOD immediately for immediate action.. Complaints of Double Handling after the show that were not brought to the attention of the show committee will not be regarded.

PROOF OF VACCINATIONS OR TITERS
Effective date: November 2000
The DDBS has installed policy concerning dogs in the national event. Because many dogs are in one place, the tendency for dogs to get sick happens. To help insure that everyone is thinking of the welfare and health not only of their own dogs, but of their colleagues Dogues, the DDBS will be inspecting vaccination records. When you arrive at the entry desk to pick up your armband or enter, you will be required to show proof of up to date vaccination - based on your veterinarian's protocol- or titer levels on all dogs you are showing for RABIES (all dogs over 6 months of age)(required by law), parvovirus and bordatella (kennel cough). For those who self vaccinate, your personal records of vaccination are accepted. for those who do not vaccinate but do rely on titer levels, a recent level is accepted (within a year). This policy has been instilled for our dog’s safety. Thank you for understanding.
